              <text>נער צעיר היה כאשר הופיע בפני בחדר המערכת והוא אז בחור ישיבה. הוא הושיט לי צרור כתבי־יד משלו. הבחור בעל הפיאות הארוכות והעינים החולמות, עורר בי, משום־מה, תשומת־לב מיוחדת. עוד בערבו של אותו יום עיינתי בסיפור ובשיר משלו. הוקסמתי מכשרון הכתיבה שלו ומכושר בטויו. ביכורי פרי־עטו פורסמו על־כן במוסף לספרות של עתוני, יומון, שהופיע בעיר מולדתו־מגורו.&#13;
&#13;
משאלתו להגיע לוורשה, כדי להמשיך שם בלימודיו בבית־המדרש הגבוה ״מתיבתא״ - גם היא ניתנה לו. אחרי זמן קצר מצא ראש ה״מתיבתא״, כי לפניו עומד עלוי ולכן היפנה אותו אל שני הגאונים ר׳ מנחם זמבא ור׳ אברהמ׳ל וויינברג, אשר מפיהם היו שומעים תורה בחורים שהגיעו למדרגה של עלוי; בתור שכזה הוא הוזמן לאחר מכן על־ידי הרב מאיר שפירא ל״ישיבת חכמי לובלין״ ושם הוכתר בכתר "צורבא דרבנן״.&#13;
&#13;
הוא לא משך את ידו מכתיבה: היה מפרסם בעברית ובאידיש — וספר שיריו, שראה אור בבית־ההוצאה הגדול שבפולין, זכה לציון הביקורת לאמור: ״כוכב צעיר עלה בשמי השירה״.&#13;
&#13;
בין ניצולי מחנות ההשמדה שהיו מגיעים אלי אי־שם באירופה היה גם הוא. והוא — אינו אלא עור וגידים. משאלתו היחידה היתה לאפשר לו להגיע בהקדם האפשרי לארץ־ישראל, אשר שעריה היו, כידוע, נעולים גם בפני ניצולי השואה. ידידים בבריגדה היהודית הבריחו אותו אל מחוז חפצו. עם הגיעו לארץ־ישראל הופיע ספרו הראשון "סלמנדרה״, שתכנו זיעזע נפש כל קורא בו. אולם: מי הוא מחבר הספר — לא ידע איש.&#13;
&#13;
תוך כדי־קריאה בספר ״סלמנדרה״ נתחוור לי — על־פי הסגנון ושורת הגיבורים בו, על־אף ששמותיהם היו מוסווים — מי הוא בעצם מחבר הספר. אמור הייתי להיות בביתו, כדי לזהותו. משנודע לו הדבר, ביקש ממני לבל אעשה זאת, וכי אישמר מכל מגע עימו, וטעמו ונימוקו אתו: הוא טען שנשרף יחד עם המיליונים, אשר הם־הם בעצם המושכים בעטו בשעת כתיבתו על השואה וכי הוא בא להשמיע את קולם של אלה, שהפכו לאפר ואשר איתם היה ואיתם נשאר־יישאר ואין, אף בידי כוח עליון, להפריד ביניהם. ולכן תחושתו עזה היא: על־ידי מגע פנים־אל־פנים עם איש המכירו מהימים שמלפני השואה, ניטלת ממנו ההשראה לכתוב ולתאר את השואה וכל  אשר התרחש שם — בפלנטה האחרת, ממנה הוא בא. &#13;
&#13;
הבקיאים בתורת הנסתר העמידוני על סוד כמוס זה, הרזין דרזין, ועל אורח הזיכוך והסיגוף, שדרכם היו מגיעים למדרגה שהיא למעלה משכל אנוש. ואמנם: כשהוא מתייחד לכתיבה על השואה, הריהו פורש מביתו ומסתתר במערה, לובש בגדי המוזלמן שלו ומתענה כדרך שהתייסר בימי אושביץ.&#13;
&#13;
ואני? עשיתי את רצונו — קרוב לשלושים שנה לא נפגשנו ורק לפני שנתיים וחצי הפגיש אותנו הגורל שוב.&#13;
&#13;
ראיתי לנכון להביא במעמד זה מקצת מראשי פרקים של סיפור ארוך בשם ״מי הוא ק. צטניק המיסתורי״ שפרסמתי לפני שנתיים בעתון אמריקאי, מכיון שסיפורי שימש מורה־דרך ליהודי בישראל, הרוצה בעילום שמו, לבוא אלי ולספר על מניעיו למצוא דרך איך להביע את תודתו העמוקה לק. צטניק. &#13;
&#13;
ובכן: בין קוראי סיפורי היה גם הוא, יהודי בעל בעמיו. הוא בא אצלי לפתוח בפני את סגור־לבו. פתח ואמר, כי עמל זמן רב להיפגש עם ק. צטניק, אך ללא הצלחה (כי זאח לדעת שסופר השואה הוא בבחינת נסתר ואינו מופיע ברבים. מהאי טעמא הוא נעדר גם ממעמד זה). לכן ביקש ממני אותו היהודי להביא לידיעת ק. צטניק לאמור:&#13;
&#13;
— ימים קשים מנשוא עברו על ביתי שהפך לבית־אבל ויגון תהומי. עולמי חרב עלי. בני, בן־יחידי, תלמיד בית־ספר תיכון, התמכר, כחבריו בכיתתו, לסמים. כל מאמצי בישראל ובחוץ־לארץ להביא את בני לידי כך שייגמל משימוש בסמים עלו בתוהו. לבותינו, שלי ושל רעיתי, התפלצו בראותנו את בן הזקונים שלנו מידרדר והולך מיום ליום. לא היה בכוחנו הנפשי להוסיף לחיות חיים סדירים. אני זנחתי את עסקי וגם את פעולתי הציבורית. אין מלים בפי לתאר את הטרגדיה, שהיתה מנת־חלקנו תקופה ממושכת.&#13;
&#13;
— והנה בחשכת ליל־האימים שירד על ביתי האירה פתאום קרן אור את חיינו: באחד הימים ניגש אלי בני, כשהוא מתרפק עלי, מנשקני ומחבקני ומבשר ואומר: ״נגמלתי לחלוטין משימוש בסמים״. כיצד? נתגלגל לידו הספר ״בית הבובות״ של ק. צטניק והתחיל קורא בו. תכנו ריתק אותו ובלע את הכתוב בו, כדבריו, בנשימה אחת. ומשנודע לו על קיומם של ספרים נוספים מפרי־עטו של סופר השואה ק. צטניק, רכש אותם ולא פסק מקריאתם, כשהוא רואה — כלשונו — בעיני רוחו את שריפת היהודים במחנות ההשמדה, כשהוא מרגיש כאילו נושם אל תוך נפשו את העשן העולה תוך תאי־הגזים. אותה שעה חש שניצוץ נדלק בלבו ושהדחף שלו לשימוש בסמים עלה באש. מפנה דראמטי התחולל בכל יישותו ונשמה חדשה ניתנה בו.&#13;
&#13;
איש־שיחי השמיע באזני דברי חרדה אשר לדור הצעיר בארצות הגולה ההולך לרעות בשדות לא־לנו ומתרחק מצור מחצבתנו, ואילו הרבה מצעירינו בישראל אינם יודעים להעריך את הערכים המקודשים של ישראל סבא. הוא הסביר לי שבתיאור השואה יש לראות שליחות חנוכית שאין למעלה ממנה. לכן הוא בא לבקש ממני שאביא לידיעת סופר השואה את דבר הפקדתו בבנק סכום כסף על שמו הבלבדית של ק. צטניק שיעשה בסכום זה כרצונו, וקם פרס ק. צטניק לתודעת השואה.&#13;
&#13;
וטוב שבהזדמנות זו יוזכר שמשרד הבטחון מוציא, זה שנים, מהדורות מספרי ק. צטניק במתכונת "תרמיל" לחיילים שבצבא ההגנה לישראל. יורשה לי על־כן במעמד זה לומר: משרד החינוך יקנה את עולמו, אם גם הוא ינהג כך. אין כל ספק שבטיפוח הכרת השואה והתודעה שלה בקרב הנוער יהיה משום חיסון נפשות צעירינו וביחוד של הדור הצעיר.</text>
